Hopkinton Rotary Donation to Town Fuel Fund November 2015At the November 4 Club meeting, Mike Byrne presented Marilyn Ceriello-Bresaw with a $2,000 donation for theTown of Hopkinton’s Fuel Fund.  The Fund is entirely supported by donations and provides families and individuals with oil and propane during the cold winter months. Ceriello-Bresaw, the Town's Human Resources Coordinator, says contributions are extremely important as federal funding continues to be cut every year.  "Thankfully, the cost of propane and oil has come down this year," she said.  According to Ceriello-Bresaw, over 40 families received assistance from the Fund in 2015.

Club members also help with fuel assistance through volunteer activities with the Sean Powers Wood Bank and the annual Contoocook Carry Triathalon event.

We believe in the motto of the Fuel Fund, said Michael Byrne in presenting the donation. “It is ‘no neighbor should be cold,’ and it aligns with our Club’s many efforts to make the community a better place to live, work and raise a family,” Byrne stated.
The Club directly contributed $1,000 and received a grant of $1,000 from Rotary District 7870. Club President James Newsom commended Byrne for his successful grant application and stated, “This is just one example of how our members exemplify the Rotary motto of “Service above Self.”

The Hopkinton Rotary makes annual contributions of $20,000 or more, mostly to local initiatives like the Wood Bank and Food Pantry and to college scholarships for High School seniors.
